It was hard to take The Handmaid’s Tale seriously at first because in the first couple of chapters every time she passes someone on the street or wherever she talks about how she wants to touch them. Not like, sexually or anything. She just wants to go up to strangers in the street and like, touch their faces. I laughed for a really long time but then I was like “now I am sad” because in retrospect that was a really sad mental space for her to be in, lonely like that.
It’s still funny though.
